Lawn Aerator Hire
Encourage healthy grass root growth & improve lawn drainage
Lawn aeration is a vital gardening procedure to decompact soil, improve drainage and allow nutrients, water and air into the soil. This in turn improves grass root growth and encourages a healthy, thick and beautiful lawn.
Our petrol lawn aerators do all of this using a set of solid tines or hollow tines which punch into the soil. The solid tines punch into the soil, allowing air, water and nutrients into the ground and improving drainage.
Hollow tines remove small cores of earth from the ground, improving compaction issues and giving grass roots more space to grow, as well as allowing water, air and nutrients into the soil, to feed the roots. The removed cores can be collected and composted. You can then apply feeds, top dressings or other treatments to the lawn.
The ideal time for aerating your lawn is during growing season - in spring or early autumn. The soil in your lawn should be moist when you aerate it, as the tines may struggle to penetrate the ground if the soil is dry. If there has been no rain recently, it is best to water the lawn a day or two before aerating to ensure that the soil is moist. Overall, solid-tines offer more of a general aeration treatment for well established and maintained lawns.
For lawns with more severe compaction problems, hollow tines usually offer the best solution. Hollow tines are also the best option for use on soil with high clay content.
Our petrol aerators are professional standard pieces of equipment, ideal for gardeners and landscapers as well as DIY users. They feature a reliable Honda GX160 engine, designed for easy starting and reliable performance. These machines are capable of covering large areas quickly, with consistently superior performance. Foam filled tyres don't just eliminate the need to check pressures and reinflate but also allow for smooth running across delicate grass surfaces and reduced tread marks – leaving the turf looking the best it possibly can be.
Despite their professional credentials, these lawn aerators are very easy to use - so they are ideal for professionals and amateurs alike. These machines have a slim and compact design - at just 38cm (15 inches) wide, they can fit through most garden gates and side alleys. Our lawn aerators for hire also have simple controls for great ease of use.
To operate the lawn aerator simply start the engine, squeeze the two-step safety lever to engage the tines, then lower the tines on to the lawn using the lever. As you do this, the power driven wheels will engage, ensuring consistent, high quality aeration throughout the entire lawn.
